1,000W Stereo Audio Power Amplifier

This article is dedicated to those Audio Amplifier enthusiasts who want to bring the good old time back into their own private home by building their own powerful stereo transistor amplifiers from scratch. The circuit design is for a 1000W stereo audio amplifier, known for its excellent assembly quality and ease of construction. The design is straightforward, from the PCB layout to the selection of components. The output transistors used are the complementary pair 2SC5200 and 2SA1943, which are both affordable and deliver impressive performance.

In the power supply module, six 4700uF/80V (or higher) capacitors and a 50A bridge rectifier diode are employed. This design can be configured as either a mono (500W) or stereo (1000W) amplifier. For a stereo setup, it is recommended to use a transformer with at least 8 Amperes and a voltage of -50V -0- +50V with a zero centre. The transformer can be either toroidal or conventional.
